The Surprising Reason Olivia Culpo Skipped Mascara on Her Wedding Day (Nope, Not the Tears!)
Culpo, who wed NFL star Christian McCaffrey on June 29, revealed to ‘Vogue’ the reason behind her minimal glam
Olivia Culpo may have been a pageant queen in the past, but she went in the opposite direction of teased hair and big lashes for her nuptials to Christian McCaffrey.
In a new interview with Vogue, the former Miss Universe, 32, revealed she didn’t wear mascara, lip liner or any makeup on her eyebrows on her wedding day. She also kept her brunette hair in a sleek straight hairstyle under her 16-foot lace Dolce & Gabbana veil.
“I never felt more beautiful than when I was in my ceremony dress and under my veil — I really wanted the simplicity of each component to harmonize perfectly,” the influencer shared.
Timeless minimalism was Culpo’s vision when it came to her dress as well, as she “didn’t want it to exude sex in any way, shape, or form.” She walked down the aisle in a long-sleeve Dolce & Gabbana crewneck gown with a voluminous skirt and buttons down the back.
”There’s so much beauty and simplicity,” she shared of the bespoke design, which held an air of elegance that Culpo said her husband, 28, finds the most beautiful.
“When I think about Christian and what he loves and the moments that he thinks that I’m most beautiful, it’s absolutely in something like this: timeless, covered and elegant,” she added.
The gown also had a symbolic meaning. In Culpo’s words, it “felt as serious as that commitment.”
Culpo and McCaffrey wed on June 29 at a chapel in Watch Hill, a coastal neighborhood in the town of Westerly located in her home state of Rhode Island.
For the rest of the festivities held at Ocean House, a luxury resort overlooking the ocean, Culpo changed into two additional looks that were coordinated with different hairstyles.
She teamed her off-the-shoulder reception gown, which featured a rose adornment in the center, with a half-up ‘do. She then tied her hair back in a laid-back ponytail to go with her retro-feeling after-party minidress, which included a sheer hoop mini skirt and rose appliqués.
