Prince William and Prince George were beaming with joy as they watched their beloved Aston Villa play in a football match this week – in the pair’s first outing since the Princess of Wales shared her cancer news.
The Prince of Wales and his young son, who are both avid Aston Villa fans, were seen in the stands of Villa Park as they cheered on the team. The royals were transfixed as they watched the Conference League match, which saw Villa taking on the French side Lille. Like any football fan, William could be seen leaning across to his son to chat about the match, while the pair lapped up the atmosphere in the stadium.
The father-of-three, dressed in a light blue shirt and navy coat, chatted to staff in the stands during the match, and could be seen gesturing towards the pitch as he watched the game. Meanwhile Prince George also appeared to be delighted by the match – which saw Villa win 2-1.
Prince George is famously a huge football fan who plays for a local team during term tine. Prince William has previously commented that he hopes his son will one day become their ‘top goal scorer.’ Father and son have been spotted at Villa matches in the past, as well as the England v Italy Euro final at Wembley in 2021, where the young prince was seen to be visibly moved when England lost on penalties.
