Patrick Mahomes’ father indicted for drunk-driving charge as family woes continue for Chiefs quarterback
It seems the Mahomes family can’t stay away from the headlines
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has got more family issues to deal with after his dad was indicted on a drunk-driving charge.
Mahomes Sr. is now facing a possible 10-year prison sentence and a potential $10,000 fine after he was arrested by police in Tyler, Texas on February 3.
According to the records from Smith County, this was classified as a felony because it is the third time he has been arrested in this manner.
It happened one day before Mahomes lined up for the Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, meaning the quarterback must have been under a lot of emotional stress at the time of the game.
More drama for Mahomes
This is not the first time that Mahomes has had to deal with drama from his family, as his brother Jackson was recently sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation after pleading no contest to a simple battery charge.
“Jackson is thankful for the support of his family and friends during the last year. Jackson pled no contest to a single count of simple battery and he was given six months of unsupervised probation,” Brandan Davies, attorney for Jackson Mahomes told CNN Friday.
Jackson simply wanted the case to be over with and to move on with his life, the matter is now closed and we will not be issuing any further statements.”
The drama in the Mahomes family makes it even more impressive that Mahomes has managed to become one of the biggest NFL players out there whilst also keeping his reputation squeaky clean.
