Kylie Kelce’s Powerful Graduation Speech Takes a Playful Turn
Kylie Kelce recently delivered a heartfelt and humorous commencement speech at Cabrini University, bidding farewell to her alma mater. The institution, which will close indefinitely on June 30, held its final graduation ceremony on May 19.
Kylie, who is married to retired NFL star Jason Kelce, marked the occasion with a relatable speech filled with playful jabs at herself and the university.
“First, your high school graduation was stolen from you by a global pandemic, then your college announced it was closing and your senior year was spent on a campus that resembled a ghost town,” Kylie began, before quipping, “You couldn’t even get a top five Kelce as your commencement speaker.”
Reflecting on her husband’s moving retirement speech, she humorously set the bar lower for her own address. “My husband Jason Kelce is known for giving some pretty earth-shattering speeches,” she said. “He did not help me in writing my words today so you can go ahead and lower those expectations.”
The 32-year-old also touched on the recent media frenzy surrounding her brother-in-law, Travis Kelce, and his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift. “What an honor it is to speak to you today,” she remarked. “When I was asked, my first instinct was, ‘Absolutely not.’ Contrary to the current state of the pop culture news cycle, I really prefer to fly under the radar.”
Despite her self-deprecating humor, Kylie delivered a meaningful message to the graduates. She reminisced about her time playing field hockey at Cabrini and offered timeless advice: “fake it until you make it.” She added, “Just look at me now. I’m 32, mom of three, where did the time go? I couldn’t tell you, but what I can tell you is I have no idea what I’m doing.”
Kylie’s speech also highlighted the whirlwind of events her family has experienced over recent years. Her husband, a former Philadelphia Eagles player, celebrated a Super Bowl win just months before their 2018 wedding. More recently, in 2023, Jason faced off against his brother Travis’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, in the Super Bowl, with the Chiefs emerging victorious just days before the birth of their youngest daughter.
