The talk show host announced she got a role in an upcoming Christmas movie about the Kansas City Chiefs on the Thursday, July 11 episode of the Today show. Though Bush Hager said she can’t share much about her part in the movie, called Holiday Touchdown: A Chief’s Love Story, she gave a hint at what she wouldn’t be doing.
“Here’s the script but it’s top secret,” she said. “First of all, I thought it was about Taylor [Swift] and Travis [Kelce], and I thought, ‘I got the Taylor role.’ But I didn’t — shocker!”

Bush Hager, who was wearing a jersey with Kelce’s number on it and a Santa hat, explained that it will be a classic Hallmark storyline about a “superfan who falls in love with a man that works for the” Chiefs.
“Let’s think, Christmas in July,” she teased.
When Savannah Guthrie questioned whether Bush Hager had a speaking part in the movie, the former first daughter revealed she does have lines as she waved her script.
“Do you have to memorize a lot of stuff?” Guthrie asked.
“Well, a lot is — again, I thought it was Taylor, that isn’t happening — a lot is kind of an exaggeration,” Bush Hager joked.
Filming is beginning soon, she said, explaining that she will be headed to Kansas City this month.
As for her character’s part in the love story of it all, Bush Hager told Craig Melvin that “maybe” she will have a romance scene.
“Do y’all think I’ve turned into Kathie Lee [Gifford]?” she laughed, referring to the former Today show host’s starring role in Hallmark’s A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love.
While she couldn’t say if Kelce would be making an appearance in the movie, she did reveal she would be packing a “big jacket and it’s 100 degrees in Kansas City.”
“This is what I’ve always dreamed of,” she quipped, adding that she did have to audition.
“We’re proud of you!” Guthrie responded at the end of the segment. “You got this!”
