Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Reveals Selfish Business Move After Realizing Anna Kournikova’s Popularity Over Wife

There is no hiding the fact that Alexis Ohanian has gone all-out to promote his wife, Serena Williams’ rookie cards. Take the example of last year. Toward the end of the 2023 season, Ohanian flaunted his ‘Serena Collection,’ showing that he is Williams’ biggest fan. Further, the American tennis legend’s card, the 2003 NetPro signed patch rookie card has gone on to make history as it fetched a mammoth price of $266,400. However, Ohanian made a surprising revelation on Williams’ rookie cards.

Before the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s cards gained popularity, they were overshadowed by another tennis star’s cards. Ohanian highlighted this fact and denoted how the shift was made.

Although Williams was more successful than Kournikova in their respective careers, her rookie cards were trading for less than that of Kournikova. This denoted that the Russian star’s cards were much greater in demand than that of Williams’ cards. Ohanian couldn’t believe that Williams’ cards were trading for less than that of Kournikova.

He said, “I was looking over my shoulder saying, ‘How is the market this inefficient? It’s ink on a dead tree. (But) if I’m married to Picasso, I’d want to own every Picasso I can. And I’d want to make sure my great grandkids have all these Picassos. That’s been my mindset for five or six years.”

Interestingly, Ohanian not only has a collection of cards of his wife but also his sister-in-law, Venus Williams. Last year, he got himself a prestigious card featuring both the Williams sisters.

The Reddit co-founder took to social media to show off his rare rookie card. It was the GEM MT 10 card of Venus and Serena Williams. Moreover, Ohanian couldn’t keep calm after getting his hand at this memorabilia.

He went on to say, “I cannot believe I got a GEM MT 10 on this SI Kids card of S & V. Huge. The @altxyzofficial facilitated the whole armored car pickup of my collection and everything. This one is going to stay in the family forever.”

Ohanian will now be pleased to see Williams’ cards breaking all barriers.
